Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) is seeking an experienced assistant security manager with leadership skills to support, lead and develop our safety & security supervisors, team leaders and officers.

This is a hands-on, full-time role with occasional overtime, that requires an individual with expansive security knowledge and people leadership skills. Specific responsibilities of this role will include:

* Supervising the team and coordinating security services for the centre as needed
* Supervising the day-to-day operations including the building management system and CCTV system
* Ensuring both department and company policies and procedures are being observed by all team members
* Investigating and reporting on all incidents within the centre and liaising with relevant managers on incidents
* Identify safety and security concerns and contribute to the overall strategy for safety and security department
* Conduct spot safety checks on external contractors
* Training and development of team members

Qualifications & Experience Required:

* QLD security licence with the following qualifications security officer (unarmed), crowd controller, security officer (control room), security officer (monitoring)
* First aid and CPR
* Responsible service of alcohol statement of attainment
* Previous experience in a large venue, ideally within an entertainment environment
* Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities, ideally acquired in a security or customer focused environment
* Proven conflict resolution, conflict negotiation and crowd control skills
* Outstanding interpersonal skills and communication skills, including the ability to write reports, communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds and team members from all departments
* Previous experience in operating and monitoring a building management system, particularly CCTV
* Strong computer literacy skills, in particular within the Microsoft suite
* The ability to work a rotating roster.
