Borumba Pumped Hydro Camps Seeks Security And Facilities Services.

Borumba Pumped Hydro Camps Seeks Security – Queensland Hydro’s Borumba Pumped Hydro Project has released a current tender covering operations and maintenance of temporary workers accommodation camps, including provision of security services and access control infrastructure.

The Borumba project is a proposed long duration pumped hydro energy storage system centred on Lake Borumba, located between Imbil, west of the Sunshine Coast, and Jimna in Queensland’s Somerset region. The site was identified in the 1980s as suitable for pumped hydro due to favourable topography, an existing reservoir and geological stability, and is situated on State land on the traditional country of the Kabi Kabi People.

PERMACONN

Queensland Hydro is progressing early works, technical investigations and design development while regulatory approvals continue and this tender has been issued via Sirrom Corporation (Aust.) Pty Ltd, which has been engaged to deliver operations and maintenance services for the temporary accommodation camps supporting the project workforce.

The scope extends across full camp operations, including administration, catering, cleaning, transport, utilities and maintenance, with security forming a defined component of the service delivery model. Requirements include provision of security systems and security services and equipment supply and installation, along with management of security and access control stations associated with site operations.

The inclusion of access control and site security within a remote accommodation environment introduces operational considerations around perimeter protection, controlled entry points, workforce movement and integration with broader site management systems. Supporting services such as power supply, communications, internet access and incident response capability will be at the elevated level required by pieces of key state and national infrastructure.
