Dicker Data Appoints Fiona Brown Managing Director 11 Months After She Stepped Into The Role Of Executive Chair.
Dicker Data Appoints Fiona Brown Managing Director – Dicker Data has appointed co-founder Fiona Brown managing director 11 months after she stepped into the role of executive chair following the departure of co-founder and former CEO and managing director, David Dicker.
Dicker Data is an Australian distributor of hardware, software and cloud services, supplying a broad channel network across enterprise, government and commercial markets – one of its divisions, Dicker DAS, is among Australia’s largest electronic security distributors.
The shift from executive chair to managing director signals a key change in structure. The executive chair role is typically used to consolidate authority across governance and operations during a period of transition or uncertainty. In this case, Brown assumed that position following the exit of Dicker, providing direct control over both strategy and execution at a time continuity was required.
Moving to a managing director role is a return to a more conventional operating model for the Dicker Data business. Responsibility for execution sits with management, while the board resumes a clearer oversight function.

While the company has not framed the change in these terms, the structure suggests board and management view the business as having made its transition successfully enough to return to standard separation between governance and operations.
The company said in a statement to ASX that Brown had provided hands-on leadership since taking on the executive chair role, with the board now formalising her position as managing director.
“The board believes it is now the right time to recognise her increased responsibilities and has formally resolved to appoint Fiona to the role of managing director,” the statement said.
As managing director, Brown will be responsible for the development and execution of strategy, including long-term direction, financial allocation, risk management and oversight of the executive team. The role also includes leadership development, succession planning and the execution of major growth initiatives such as acquisitions and transformation programs.
The appointment will sit alongside Brown’s existing executive chair responsibilities, with the board noting it will consider whether additional governance arrangements are required. At the time of her executive chair appointment in May last year, Brown said her immediate focus was to support and advise the executive team.
“The executive team, including Vlad Mitnovetski, Mary Stojcevski and Ian Welch, are the best performers in the industry, all are long-term, committed and extremely skilled in executing the strategy of the business,” Brown said.
