Droneshield And Terma Partnering On AI Drone Detection, Counter UAS Capabilities.

Droneshield And Terma Partnering On AI Drone Detection – Australian counter drone solutions manufacturer, DroneShield and drone radar manufacturer Terma have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding aimed at delivering interoperable, layered counter-UAS capabilities, combining AI-enabled detection, electronic warfare and command-and-control into deployable operational systems.

The agreement is focused on integrating and operationalising complementary technologies from both companies, with an emphasis on multi-sensor detection, system interoperability and coordinated response.

The objective is to enable operators to deploy scalable counter-drone capabilities across a range of environments, supported by unified command-and-control and improved situational awareness.

The collaboration brings together DroneShield’s counter-UAS and command-and-control platforms with Terma’s air defence and aerospace technologies.

AI-enabled sensor fusion is expected to play a central role, improving detection accuracy and classification while supporting faster operational decision-making.

DroneShield chief commercial officer Louis Gamarra said the partnership strengthens the ability of both companies to meet evolving requirements.

“Counter-UAS operations increasingly demand interoperable, multi-sensor solutions that can be deployed rapidly and scaled across diverse operational environments,” Gamarra said.

“Partnering with Terma allows DroneShield to combine our battle-proven counter-UAS and command-and-control capabilities with Terma’s advanced air defence technologies, creating a compelling pathway for customers seeking to enhance layered defence outcomes.”

The ANZ security industry remains curiously impervious to drone threats, in SEN’s opinion. Solutions like these will need to be integrated into many applications, including public safety and mass gathering events in the future.
