Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro Project Security Sought For Multiple Site Structures.
Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro Project Security Sought – Alinta Energy’s Oven Mountain Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (OMPS) project has gone to market for security system maintenance and security services, with this expression of interest closing February 28, 2027.
The project is a large-scale energy infrastructure development located between Armidale and Kempsey in the New England Renewable Energy Zone. It will deliver up to 900MW of generation capacity with around 8 hours of storage, based on an off-river pumped hydro scheme.
The development involves construction of upper and lower reservoirs, an underground power station and connecting tunnels, along with associated infrastructure spread across a remote and complex site.
The security scope reflects that scale. Requirements include site surveillance and patrols, access control and credential management, incident response, and ongoing reporting. Contractors will also be responsible for maintaining security equipment, supporting emergency planning and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
Given the nature of the project, security will need to operate across a large geographic footprint with limited existing infrastructure, requiring a mix of physical presence, communications capability and electronic systems to maintain visibility and control.
The EOI is structured to assess capability across local and regional providers, with OMPS seeking suppliers able to support construction-phase security as well as ongoing operational requirements.
