Safetyflex Launches Fix Block 50 HVM Barrier – Safetyflex has released the Fix Block 50, a shallow-mount hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) barrier system that has achieved a zero penetration, zero major debris result under ISO 22343-1 testing at 80km/h.
Ezi Security Systems general manager Troy Donnelly said the test outcome placed the system in a category rarely seen in real-world barrier performance.
“Absolute perfection zero penetration and zero major debris to the new ISO 22343-1 with N2A truck at 80kph,” Donnelly said. “I have been doing this a long time and seeing a test report with V/7200[N2A]/80/90:0.0/0.0 is craziness.”
The Fix Block 50 was independently tested at HORIBA MIRA in the UK and is rated to stop a 7.5-tonne truck, with an impact vehicle mass of 7.2 tonnes, travelling at 50mph or 80km/h, delivering zero penetration and zero major debris travel under test conditions.
Decoding The Test Result
What the Fix Block 50’s ISO 22343-1 classification actually says
A full physical crash test with a real vehicle — not a simulation or calculation.
A 7.2-tonne truck at full test weight — the system is rated against 7.5-tonne class vehicles.
A rigid two-axle goods vehicle under the ISO test vehicle classification.
Struck at 50mph — the energy of a loaded truck at highway speed.
A perpendicular, head-on strike — the worst-case approach angle for a barrier.
The vehicle travelled 0.0m past the barrier line and no major debris travelled beyond it. This is the number Donnelly calls “craziness” — and it was achieved on a shallow foundation.

That result is reflected in the formal test classification of V/7200[N2A]/80/90:0.0/0.0, indicating full containment of the impact vehicle with no significant debris hazard beyond the barrier line.
According to Donnelly, the performance is notable not only for the impact rating but for the way it has been achieved.
“A huge congratulations to Rob, Marcus and the team at Safetyflex for breaking into the perfection club with only a 200mm foundation depth,” he said.
From a deployment perspective, the shallow foundation is a defining characteristic of the system. The Fix Block 50 is designed with a nominal foundation depth of 300mm, significantly reducing excavation, civil works and installation time compared to traditional deep-foundation HVM systems.
This has implications for projects in urban environments, transport corridors and public spaces where underground services, disruption and programme constraints are key considerations. Each block measures 2000mm long, 800mm wide and 930mm high, with a standard spacing of 3200mm centre-to-centre, allowing flexible deployment across single-entry points or extended perimeter arrays. The system can also be configured as a continuous HVM wall where higher levels of perimeter protection are required.

From an application perspective, Fix Block 50 is designed for use in public realm environments including stadia, retail precincts, transport hubs and leisure sites, as well as higher security locations such as airports, police facilities, government buildings, data centres and critical infrastructure.
In these environments, the system combines impact resistance with design flexibility, offering standard concrete finishes with options for cladding, planters and integrated street furniture to reduce visual impact and support architectural integration.
