Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers has gone to tender seeking an access control solution for its planned Urea Plant at Karratha in Western Australia, which was granted major project status by the Federal Government late last year.

While information is limited, it’s likely the system will be deployed to protect the 3-year construction of the huge site during the build. Scope for the package comprises of Supply of Security Systems (ACS) associated with the Urea Plant and includes an IP-based master controller and server, card readers, printers, workstations, turnstiles and boom gates.

Perdaman has already invested $A280 million on the project and late last year announced that it had signed up for a 20-year gas supply from Woodside. The company recently signed a binding Heads of Agreement with SNC-Lavalin for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) work for the project.

Perdaman chairman and managing director Vikas Rambal said subject to approvals, construction could start in the first half of this year – this tender suggests that time is close.

The company will use the latest and best technologies for the project, including Haldor Topsoe’s new SynCOR technology, Stamicarbon’s LAUNCH MELT Pool Condenser Design was chosen for the urea production. When completed, the plant will generate $A850 million in annual revenues.

The closing date for the access control tender is May 22, 2019.
