BLOOMBERG Technology has reported Apple is working on a chip designed for artificial intelligence called Apple Neural Engine, which will enhance its device’s ability to learn to handle tasks without human intervention.

According to an anonymous source at BT, researchers at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters are developing a prototype AI chipset to be deployed in its smartphones. The chip might reduce load on the main processor, allowing for improved battery life and faster machine learning applications.

It’s being speculated such a chip would greatly improve on the iPhone’s speech and image recognition capabilities, allowing developers to make use of the more powerful device to build higher end apps,

The technology would also improve on the iPhone’s augmented reality technology, allowing for more powerful applications to be developed and more complicated utilities executed.

More powerful devices will allow more powerful integrations with the electronic security and automation solutions of the future. ♦
