ASIAL Awards For Excellence Decided – This year’s ASIAL Awards For Excellence were decided last week with judging made more difficult by the quality and diversity of many entries.
In categories like best security integration and best security installation quality installers and integrators slugged it out across a spread of applications. Meanwhile, the best product awards were harder fought than ever.
ASIAL Awards For Excellence categories include, electronic security installation over $A500,000, electronic security installation under $500,000, integrated security solution over $500,000, integrated security solution under $500,000, product of the year – access control systems, product of the year – alarm systems, product of the year – physical security, and product of the year – video surveillance systems (CCTV IP system/solution).
Also recognised were individual achievement protective services, individual achievement technical security, diversity and inclusion, security equipment manufacturer/distributor and unsung hero protective services sector.

In the installation and integration categories contenders included BAMSS, NRG Services, Sapio, Securitas, Supernova, Omnivision, SPL Security, Optic Security and PMT Security. What made judging at once more difficult and more rewarding this year were submissions from smaller installers whose teams had undertaken complex integrations.
“In the best product categories, there was also plenty to talk about for judges, with the arguments coming down to outright performance versus operational benefits versus breadth of functionality,” said ASIAL general manager, John Fleming.
“The individual achievement, unsung hero and best manufacturer/distributor categories also demanded careful consideration with submissions covering many roles, each with its challenges.
“Many thanks to our judges and most importantly, thanks to the organisations who put so much effort into their submissions this year.”
The awards will be presented at the 29th Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence will be joined by the 10th Outstanding Security Performance Awards (the OSPAs) and 14th Australian Security Medals Foundation Awards to be held in Melbourne on October 30 with Col Cameron as master of ceremonies.
