City of Sydney Seeks Smart Sensor System To Monitor People Flow And Environment.
City of Sydney Seeks Smart Sensor – City of Sydney has released a tender for the supply, calibration and management of a Zhaga-compatible smart sensor system designed to monitor pedestrian flow and environmental conditions.
The system must support accurate pedestrian counting and provide data integration services suitable for local government reporting and planning. The tender also calls for associated support services, including calibration, data delivery and system maintenance.
The system will be used to monitor foot traffic in key public areas and support data-driven decisions around infrastructure, events, and resource allocation. To be considered for integration the system must deliver accurate pedestrian counts and integrate with existing platforms used by council.
Compatibility with Zhaga-D4i socket standards is required to ensure seamless sensor deployment across smart poles and lighting networks.
This system will be integrated into the City of Sydney’s broader smart city program and must be capable of interfacing with external systems, including a counting and heat mapping product used to support public space analysis and operational planning.
The integration will enable real-time monitoring of occupancy and usage trends, helping council plan for events, service provision, and safety requirements based on dynamic population data.
This City of Sydney Seeks Smart Sensor tender closes at 11am on August 8, 2025. You can find out more here or read more SEN news here.
