Cognitec Delivering 250 Face Recognition Cameras To Australian Airports For Department Of Home Affairs.
Cognitec Delivering 250 Face Recognition Cameras To Australia – Cognitec Systems is working with the Australian Department of Home Affairs to deliver 250 biometric camera units for use at major international airports.
The cameras will deliver facial image capture with improved image quality and assist with identity verification for international travellers. The Australian Department of Home Affairs processes about 41 million international passengers annually, using facial recognition to authenticate eligible travellers at primary lines to speed up the customs process.
The contract centres on Cognitec’s FaceVACS-Entry system, which detects a subject’s height, adjusts to capture a frontal pose and uses automated facial recognition to verify identity against stored records. Cognitec is also supplying integration software, mounting hardware, installation services and ongoing support for the deployed systems.
“Cognitec is proud to continue a successful relationship with the Department of Home Affairs, and to deliver our technology for quick collection of biometric photos and for accurate traveller verification at the Australian border primary lines,” said Terry Hartmann, Cognitec’s vice president for Asia Pacific.
