Health NZ Floats $NZD100 Million Security Tender For Physical Healthcare Security Services.
Health NZ Floats $NZD100 Million Security Tender – Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora has announced its intention to release a request for proposal in Q4 2025 for the delivery of physical healthcare security services across the country.
The indicative contract value is expected to exceed $100 million NZD and will establish a unified national operating model while allowing for local implementation.
Healthcare security in New Zealand is transitioning from traditional guarding to a more specialised role that aligns with clinical values and supports safe hospital operations. Current service delivery varies across districts, with a mix of in-house, hybrid, and fully outsourced arrangements.
The new model seeks to standardise service quality and practices nationally while continuing to manage critical risks to patients, staff, visitors, infrastructure, and hospital operations.
The contract scope includes scheduled and ad hoc physical security guards, mobile patrols, static guarding, incident response, de-escalation, alarm response, and patient watches. The future RFP will invite proposals that can support these requirements consistently across Health NZ’s national footprint.
The formal RFP for this Health NZ security tender is due Q4 2025 – you can keep an eye out for the tender here. You can read more SEN news here.
