Independent Marks 40 Years Supporting Western Sydney Health District.
Independent Marks 40 Years Supporting Western Sydney Health – Independent Locksmiths & Security (ILS) has marked more than 40 years as the incumbent locksmith for Western Sydney Local Health District, supporting a long-term program of master keying, system upgrades and security standardisation across hospitals and associated facilities.
The relationship began with the deployment and management of a restricted Lockwood A–F system covering more than 3000 doors at Westmead Hospital and nearby medical centres.

A major upgrade commenced in 2006, when WSLHD selected ILS to transition the district to a Lockwood Twin broach system. The rollout followed a staged approach aligned with new buildings and refurbishments, eventually replacing the legacy A–F platform district-wide. The current system now covers more than 8000 doors across Westmead, Blacktown, Mount Druitt and Auburn hospitals, as well as multiple medical centres and support buildings.
ILS’ master keying department designed each expansion segment with structured growth in mind.
“We’ve always focused on making sure WSLHD had a system that could scale without compromising security or operational control,” said ILS’ Ryan McGovern.
“The forward design has supported continuous redevelopment across the district while maintaining consistency with the core keying hierarchy.”
Key management is handled through Promaster Key Manager 8, which provides traceability, auditing and digital record-keeping. ILS configured the system and supported the onboarding of key stakeholders, including Westmead Hospital security administration officer Nazim Mansuri, who manages daily operations such as key issuance, tracking and audit checks.
ILS continues to manage installation, maintenance, and expansion of the Lockwood Twin system across WSLHD. The long-term program combines hardware standardisation, structured keying design and dedicated software management to support the operational requirements of a complex healthcare environment.
