Massive Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm Seeks CCTV, Security And Fencing.

Massive Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm Seeks CCTV, Security – Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm, a 256MW renewable energy project under development in South Australia’s Mid North, seeks security and fencing.

The project is being delivered by Aula Energy across a 4457-hectare site along the Campbell Range. The wind farm will comprise 42 GE Vernova turbines rated at 6.1MW each, supported by extensive electrical and civil infrastructure including a new 33/275kV substation, a 275kV switching station at Narridy and 12.8km of high-voltage transmission connecting into ElectraNet’s Davenport–Brinkworth line.

PERMACONN

Security and fencing works form part of a broader construction program scheduled to commence in early 2026, with tenders closing April 20, 2026. The scale of the development and its distributed footprint across a large rural site will require layered physical and electronic security solutions supporting both construction and operational phases. Reliable and redundant communications is going to be a factor.

The site includes turbine hardstands, internal access roads, an underground collector network, operations and maintenance facilities and grid connection infrastructure, all of which will require protection. Given the project’s size and geographic spread, perimeter fencing and controlled access points are expected to play a central role in securing critical assets, alongside electronic security systems including intrusion detection, access control, CCTV surveillance and site automation.

During construction, the project is expected to support 250–300 personnel at peak, creating additional security requirements around workforce access, equipment protection and site monitoring. Once operational, the wind farm will transition to a smaller permanent workforce but will continue to require remote monitoring capability across key infrastructure zones.

The Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm is a $A900 million development supported by the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme and long-term offtake arrangements with Snowy Hydro. The project has secured all major planning approvals and grid connection agreements, with construction expected to run for approximately 32 months ahead of planned commissioning in late 2028.
