Nedax Delivers Gallagher Access Control Base Build For Major Wellington Commercial Site.
Nedax Delivers Gallagher Access Control – Nedax Systems (NZ) has completed a large-scale Gallagher Security base build at a major commercial building in Wellington, delivering an integrated access control solution designed to support high-traffic operations and future expansion.
The deployment comprises more than 80 access-controlled doors, along with elevator integration, custom cabinets and trunking, and dual power supplies to support system resilience and continuity. The installation also includes customised ‘Car Coming’ and ‘Loading Bay Full’ signage, aimed at improving traffic flow and operational safety across the site.
While system architecture has not been detailed, in SEN’s opinion projects of this scale are typically underpinned by Gallagher’s C7000 controller platform running Command Centre management software. In this configuration, controllers manage distributed access decisions at the edge, while Command Centre provides centralised configuration, alarm handling and system integration. Such an approach allows large sites to scale door counts, integrate lifts and third-party systems, and maintain operational continuity in the event of network disruption.

According to Josh Weber, deployments of this nature highlight the flexibility of Gallagher’s architecture in complex environments.
“Installations at this scale demonstrate how Gallagher systems can be configured to support high volumes of users, multiple access points and integrated building functions, while maintaining consistent performance and control,” Weber said.
The combination of distributed control hardware and centralised management software allows sites to segment access permissions, manage lift destination control, and integrate operational signalling such as loading bay status. This supports both security outcomes and day-to-day site efficiency, particularly in mixed-use or high-density commercial environments.
Founded in 1987 by Tony Phillips, Nedax specialises in access control and CCTV systems, with early projects including deployments for Telecom New Zealand, New Zealand Parliament, New Zealand Police and Government Property Services. The company expanded into Australia in 1990, securing the contract to upgrade access control and CCTV at Sydney International Airport, at the time the largest security contract awarded in Australasia.

Nedax said the Wellington project reflects its ongoing focus on delivering integrated systems tailored to operational requirements, combining access control, infrastructure design and system resilience to support long-term performance.
