New Hikvision AcuSeek NVR Large Scale AI – Hikvision’s new AcuSeek NVR is an AI-powered video search appliance that uses large multimodal models to extract and match video footage based on natural language queries.

According to Hikvision, the system is designed to address inefficiencies in traditional video review workflows by allowing investigators to search large video datasets using everyday text prompts.

According to Hikvision, the AcuSeek NVR can automatically identify people, vehicles and objects, including carts, scooters, and pets, as well as detect behavioural anomalies such as helmet non-compliance. The system also supports open semantic searches for less common scenarios and includes preset options such as “Find People” or “Find Vehicles” to streamline the interface.

The system’s core advantage is its ability to interpret descriptive phrases like “person on a phone call,” “child with a backpack,” or “black SUV with round headlights,” and return matching footage almost instantly. This is achieved using the company’s proprietary Guanlan large-scale AI model, which aligns subject features in video footage with cross-modal semantic text input. The model has been trained using large parameter datasets for open-ended natural language searches and is designed to enable semantic accuracy in live or recorded video recall.

Latency between query and response is designed to be minimal, with footage retrieval completed in seconds, which is intended to increase response speed in emergency or investigation scenarios. The system also has a low operational threshold and does not require technical training.

Applications span physical security investigations, traffic management, and community services, where the AcuSeek NVR can assist in identifying lost items or missing pets, locate vehicles breaching local traffic restrictions, or screen incident footage by physical or behavioural characteristics.
