NORTHERN Territory Government is seeking the installation of CCTV cameras at various sites around the Alice Springs’ municipality.

Alice Springs has around 40 CCTV cameras installed around the CBD. Installed by CAT Projects on a combination of dedicated fibre with a wireless link to the NT Police control room in the Territory Communications Centre, Peter McAulay Centre, at Berrimah.

More recently, Alice Springs was promised 10 new cameras, with Minister for Police Adam Giles announcing they would be a mix of fixed and mobile devices.

“CCTV is an efficient and effective detection and investigative tool that identifies and prevents crime and anti-social behaviour,” Giles said. “There is continuous live monitoring of the cameras and police are tasked to attend when suspicious activity is observed. The footage helps to solve crimes, find missing persons and provide evidence for production in court.”

This tender for CCTV in Alice Springs closes on March 14, 2019.
