Optex Zone C Indoor Detectors Available From BGW Technologies.

Optex Zone C Indoor Detectors – Available from BGW Technologies, Optex detectors offer a wide variety of cutting-edge intrusion products to suit most security requirements, according to Stanley El Komala, BGW Technologies’ senior product manager.

“The Optex intrusion suite of detection products are highly adaptable, whether the job requires sensors for a commercial establishment or home, Optex Zone C indoor detectors offer the most suitable solution,” El Komala says.

“In the security space, indoor sensors are crucial for enhancing the safety of enclosed areas. Zone C Optex detectors have each been specifically engineered to identify and react to potential threats within indoor settings under varying conditions.

“These sensors use technologies like passive infrared, microwave, or dual technology to monitor movement. Incorporated into alarm systems, notifications will alert operators of suspicious incidents, offering users including homeowners and enterprises a strong security layer.”

“We have in stock the full range of Optex Zone C detectors, each with their own unique features which set them apart, and they should be individually considered depending on the install requirements.”

Optex Zone C Indoor Detectors

  • OPXCX-702(C) features twin pyro for advanced reliability, with a dual-purpose lens, allowing the unit to be installed as a wide angle or narrow angle sensor.
  • OPXSX-360Z, offers unique zoom function, allowing the sensor to be adjusted up and down by rotating the housing cover of the zoom mechanism.
  • OPXFX-360 is a ceiling mount sensor, which has a spherical lens offering unparalleled 360degree detection performance.
  • OPXAP-360B/R, also offering 360degree detection, but this detector is a recessed mount sensor which is available in both wired or battery models.
  • OPSAP-20NB/R, also available in a wired or a battery-operated model, this recessed mount PIR detector can be installed to provide curtain or plane detection coverage.

According to El Komala, or particular note is the FlipX series of detectors, including the OPXFLX-P-ST/OPXFLX-S-ST (Standard), OPXFLX-S-DT-X5/OPXFLX-P-DT-X5 (Pro), and OPXFLX-A-AM/OPXFLX-A-DAM-X5 (Advanced).

“The series offers advanced intrusion detection with its unique pyroelectric element and advanced detection logic that adjusts to human shapes,” El Komala explains. “The sensors function by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by people, enabling the sensors to identify intruders and transmit alerts to alarm systems.

“Installers, you will love this feature – you can easily adjust the detection area from 85 degrees wide to 5 degrees by flipping the lens 180 degrees. Suitable for both residential and commercial settings, the series is available in 3 grades; Standard, Professional, and Advanced, depending on the install requirements.”

What is PIR?

PIR sensors are able to sense motion by converting IR to an electric current which exceeds a circuit threshold to trigger an alarm event at an alarm panel. They are almost always used to detect whether a human being has moved in or out of the range of the sensor. PIRs are usually quite small, low-power, and easy to use, with the added benefit of not wearing out quickly. For that reason they are mostly found in various security systems and gadgets used in homes or businesses. They are usually called PIR, “Passive Infrared”, “Pyroelectric”, or “IR motion” sensors.

How Does A PIR Work?

PIR Sensors

PIRs are made up of a pyroelectric sensor comprising a crystal of tantallum (which looks like round metal device with a crystal material in the centre), which can detect very low levels of infrared radiation. PIR sensors contain processors that allow them to recognise the particular electrical signals generated when a human moves in front of the PIR lens in a way that breaks programmed bands of detection in a sequence that can be counted over time.
