Sun Cable is seeking design and installation of a site-wide integrated security solution, including access control and CCTV monitoring to a back-to-base facility with web-based management.

Middle Arm Battery is proposed to be sited east of the existing Weddell Power Station in the Northern Territory, with an installed capacity of 50MW scalable to 500MW, which will provide active power and ancillary services to the Darwin-Katherine integrated power system.

Weddell Power Station consists of 3 open cycle gas turbines commissioned in 2008, with a third commissioned in 2014. It currently has 129MW of capacity, using natural gas only.
This tender is an early works package that will form part of the Australia-ASEAN Power Link (AAPL) project. Design is scheduled to start in Q3 2020, with on-site works for establishment and land clearing in Q2 2021, with the battery to be commissioned and online in Q2 2022 after a 12-month construction period.

The work will require a notice to proceed in the dry season of 2021 for civil works, with potential for enabling works in late 2020. This tender closes on May 1, 2020 – you can find out more here.
