Perth Core Library Seeks Emergency Alert

♦ Perth Core Library Seeks Emergency Alert – Department of Mines Industry Regulation and Safety’s Perth Core Library requires an emergency alert system integration.

Built in 2003 at a cost of $A5 million, the state-of-the-art Perth Core Library, located in Carlisle, is used to display and archive drillcore to assist subsequent exploration activity. The facility are administered by the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA).

The Perth Core Library houses a HyLogger spectral scanner, a rapid spectroscopic logging and imaging system that uses continuous visible and infrared spectroscopy and digital imaging to safely examine core, samples and cuttings.

Companies are required to submit cores, cuttings and sidewall core material obtained during drilling as part of the legislative requirements for petroleum and geothermal exploration. These samples become available to the public after a strict confidentiality period.

Drill core representing all petroleum wells drilled in the State both onshore and offshore, as well as examples of mineralisation styles found outside the Goldfields, are documented and stored at the Perth Core Library.

Perth Core Library and Joe Lord Core Library in Kalgoorlie were constructed to assist resource explorers by preserving valuable drill core which could ultimately lead to significant new mineral and petroleum discoveries.

The core libraries allow explorers to examine drill core from all key prospective areas throughout WA before they made a financial commitment to invest in more capital-intensive exploration programs. Perth Core Library has storage for more than 800km of drill core and other drill samples from both the mineral and petroleum sectors.

This tender is by invitation-only from the issuer – it closes on August 11 – click here for more information.
