Queensland Corrective Services Seeks 2-Way Radio Upgrade Design Consultant For State-Wide Upgrade.
Queensland Corrective Services Seeks 2-Way Radio Upgrade – Queensland Corrective Services is preparing a statewide upgrade to its 2-way radio communications across all correctional centres and support sites.
The Department has issued an Expression of Interest through QBuild for a principal radio system design consultant whose tasks will include comprehensive site reviews, radio coverage mapping at individual centres and for prisoner transport vehicles, designing ICT sub-trunk infrastructure, statewide interconnection, and preparing operational procedures and technical standards. A redundant radio core is to be provided in addition to the main facility at Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre.
The selected consultant must document engineering methods, commissioning plans, testing regimes, and cyber security backup strategies as part of full system design. It is a requirement that all RF engineers are to have extensive previous experience, preferably in Queensland, working on operational correctional facility two-way radio systems and projects.
QCS requires that the ICT network utilises the statewide Secure Communications Network (SCN) with its Juniper Routers. A dedicated VLAN is to be established for the Radio System ICT connections.
Queensland Corrective Services has a budget of around $1.8 billion and operates 11 high security and 6 low security centres across the state with around 8500 staff and 11,000 prisoners housed in 7500 cells.
