SAGE 2021 Decision Looms As NSW Cases Plunge

SAGE organisers will this week decide on the 2021 event as NSW cases numbers continue to fall – today the state recorded 360 new cases of COVID-19 – and the double vaccination rate continues to rise – it’s now around 75 per cent.

Importantly, the ACT’s Chief Minister, Andrew Barr, has confirmed Canberra will end its lockdown this Friday after the state recorded 28 new cases of COVID-19 and its double vaccination rate reached 73 per cent – NSW and ACT have first vaccination rates over 90 per cent.

SAGE 2021, sponsored by Gallagher Security, is scheduled to be held at the Realm Hotel in Canberra on November 25 – around 6 weeks away – by which time the double vaccination rate in NSW/ACT is projected to be over 95 per cent.

Just as importantly, ACT will this Friday expand the number of NSW postcodes from which travellers can enter the territory without a special exemption to include Braidwood, Goulburn, Cooma, parts of the Snowy Region and Gundagai.

Should the event go ahead as planned, numbers in the exhibition space will be closely managed, the ASIS seminars will be live streamed around the venue and there will be strict COVID procedures in place, including masking, distancing, hygiene, contact tracing, elevated ventilation rates, exhortations to double vaccinate for group safety, and the presence of COVID marshals of exceedingly stern demeanour.

Organisers meet this Thursday night – more to follow…
