Seminar presentations will take place in seminar rooms adjacent to the hotel foyer, as well as being live streamed to the Melbourne foyer area on the expo level.

Yalda Assef “Comparing US and Australian Security”
Yalda is General Manager Aviation Services for MSS Security, Australia’s leading security services provider with nearly 7000 staff operating in all market segments in every Australian state and territory.
Yalda’s 22 years of experience across all aspects of security management includes positions in Australia and the United States, with G4S, Allied Universal the largest security company in the world, and CEO Centerpoint Security, a private patrol operator company she established in Los Angeles in 2005. Yalda is a qualified manager though the CA Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, a former Chairman of the Board, Greater Los Angeles Chapter, ASIS International, and also contributes as a volunteer to child welfare causes.
Yalda has managed security for many large-scale events such as CBS Dancing with the Stars, Late Late Show with James Corden, Survivor, NCIS, The Grammys, LACMA and Bob Hope Airport. She has also worked in emergency management teams across vertical markets such as Healthcare and Transportation, and was an active member of IAHSS (International Association for Healthcare, Security and Safety).
Yalda holds a bachelor of arts in linguistics and a master of criminal justice and law enforcement administration. She is a certified instructor in pepper spray, baton and handcuffing, management of aggressive behaviour instructor and institutional protection manager. Yalda is Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certified and also an Instructor in First Aid, CPR and AED with both American Red Cross and the American Heart Association. She is also fluent in Farsi. In 2019, Yalda passed her department panel interview and backgrounds with Los Angeles Police Department to become a reserve police officer.
Yalda will provide an entertaining perspective comparing and contrasting the similarities and differences between general security practise in Australia and the USA.
Tony Murney “Parliament House Security: the Demise of Democracy?”
Tony has lengthy experience in government and international organisations, including positions in the Commonwealth Parliament, Australian Capital Territory Policing, the Australian Federal Police International Deployment Group and several appointments with the United Nations.
He served three tours in Afghanistan and 2 in Somalia with various organisations, and held several key positions including chief technical adviser on Police Professionalisation in Kabul and Deputy Commissioner of the UN integrated Police Team in Mogadishu.
Tony is a committed advocate for international police development and reform with a strong interest in civil liberties, balanced security solutions and good government. He speaks regularly on these subjects both domestically and internationally. Tony has a PhD in anthropology and undergraduate qualifications in regional development, and is a director and board member of Civil Liberties Australia.
Inspired by his experience as deputy security controller, Tony will describe the physical security upgrades recently completed at the Australian Commonwealth Parliament with reference to costs and the risk environment, and the symbolic implications for democracy of obstructing access to parliament by citizens.
Daniel Lewkovitz, CPP – “How the Security Industry Became a Threat to National Security”
Daniel is chief executive officer of managed security services and monitoring firm, Calamity. His career has included extensive experience performing critical security projects for state and federal law enforcement and corrections, retail and investment banks, education and childcare, high wealth families, high risk ethnic groups and businesses of all sizes. Under his leadership, Calamity has grown from a single customer to many thousands of clients and a world-class monitoring facility.
Daniel is described as a security evangelist, committed to the effective and cost-effective deployment of security technology to mitigate risk. An outspoken advocate for security excellence, he has a devoted social media following, and is a frequent and sought-after commentator on security issues, including appearing on Sky News Channel and Channel Nine.
Daniel holds a Masters of Information Technology and Communications from the University of Wollongong (2000), the ASIS International designation of Certified Protection Professional (CPP, Board Certified in Security Management, 2009), and previously qualified as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
He is an enthusiastic and thought-provoking presenter who will raise challenging vital issues using case studies, with sound advice to assist government and major security consumers distinguish legitimate security providers from the illegitimate.
Codee Ludbey, CPP “Assuring Cyber and Physical Security in Design: a Systems Engineering Approach”.
Codee is principal security consultant with Tactix, responsible for security services including due diligence, technical engineering advice and design, governance, standards development, and strategic risk assessment, specialising in transport infrastructure and protecting crowded places.
Codee is a new generation security digital native, and has already gained experience in sectors such as consulting engineering, aviation and transportation security, and government.
He was also an academic tutor, is the Young Professionals Global Outreach Lead for ASIS International Australia Region, and qualified for the Certified Protection Professional (CPP – Board Certified in Security Management) designation in 2019. Codee holds a Master of Science by research (2018) and Bachelor of Science (Security) with First Class Honours (2015).
Codee will present on building in cyber and physical security at the design stages, using systems engineering methodology, ensuring robust and secure operational technology platforms and avoiding the need for costly security retrofitting.
Julian Claxton “How organisations help to promote insider threat acts”.
Julian is the managing director of Jayde Consulting Pty Ltd, a firm specialising in the provision of technical surveillance countermeasures, threat and behavioural intelligence, and managing trusted insiders.
A veteran of the security profession for over thirty years, Julian’s experience spans security and risk management, investigations, counterespionage, and behavioural science, across government, industry, and for key executives within Australia and abroad.
Julian is a member of ASIS International, the Espionage Research Institute International, and is a Founder Member of the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures Institute (UK). He is also a current member and former Board-member of the Australian Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers.
Julian holds a master of science in communication, behaviour, and credibility analysis (2019), and a post graduate diploma in behavioural analysis and investigative interviewing (2017). He also holds Diplomas of Government Investigations (2021), Security and Risk Management (2008), as well as additional specialised training in linguistic analysis, technical surveillance countermeasures, and a variety of short behavioural science, security and investigations courses.
Julian’s presentation will refer to elements of the critical pathway to insider threats, focusing on the most common findings during technical surveillance countermeasure and trusted insider consulting engagements. He will provide insight into the character predispositions of insider threat actors, and vulnerabilities regularly observed during corporate and government assignments. Importantly, he will also present tips on detecting and mitigating adverse exposure from trusted insiders.
Keynote speaker – Nicholas Martin “Converged Security Programs”.
Nicholas is the senior executive head of Property and Security Services for AGL Energy, an integrated gas, electricity and telecommunications provider servicing over 4.5 million customers, generating around 20% of total capacity within Australia’s National Electricity Market. He is also the current chairman of the Forum of Australasian Security Executives (FASE) comprising over 45 chief security officers from Australia’s largest organisations.
With a career of over 25 years that spans defence, major events, senior corporate positions, and strategic and risk management consulting, Nicholas has first-hand experience of the challenges confronted in successfully delivering security and crisis management programs, in both corporate and complex operating environments.
Nicholas started his working career as a Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Clearance Diving Officer. On completing 11 years RAN service, Nicholas held senior operational roles in the Sydney 2000, Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Games and Manchester Commonwealth Games.
Nicholas then held executive security management roles including General Manager Security, Strategy at Telstra, Head of Global Security, Macquarie Bank, and Regional Head of Security and Crisis Consulting with Control Risks Group, delivering a broad range of consulting services in challenging environments through Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Nicholas then established his own private security threat and risk consultancy supporting extractive resource projects in complex locations such as the Middle East, Papua New Guinea and Borneo.
Nicholas has studied towards qualifications including Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts, and holds a Diploma of Security Risk Management (2016).
His keynote presentation will address the elements of cohesive integrated protection of corporate assets: personnel, information, equipment, reputation, and operational service delivery capability, including the convergence of physical and cybersecurity, and related foundations of corporate management such as privacy, risk, people and culture.
