Security Officers Recognised As Frontline Workers Under Commonwealth Criminal Code.
Security Officers Recognised As Frontline Workers – An amendment to Australia’s Commonwealth Criminal Code recognises security officers as frontline workers.
According to ASIAL president John Gellel, ASIAL recently met with the Federal Attorney General’s Department seeking clarification on amendments to the Commonwealth Criminal Code.
“Following on from this meeting we are pleased to advise that recent amendments to Divisions 146 and 147 of the Criminal Code will increase penalties for offences committed against a Commonwealth public official,” Gellel said.
“This also applies to security officers who deal directly with the public as a primary function of their role.”
Gellel said it was a significant win for the security industry, as it affords security officers additional protections when working at Commonwealth government sites.

“Security Officers Recognised As Frontline Workers.”
Does this mean ALL security officers are recognised as front-line personnel, or only those working on Commonwealth sites?
