Ubiquiti LTU Wireless Links From EOS – Ubiquiti LTU is Ubiquiti’s latest radio transmission technology designed for Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) connections in the 5 GHz frequency band.

Ubiquiti LTU series includes a range of devices, including the LTU-Rocket base station and client devices such as LTU-Pro, LTU-Lite, and LTU-LR; while features include high connection efficiency, improved spectral efficiency, and noise resiliency.

Ubiquiti LTU achieves high spectral efficiency through advanced modulation techniques, with the maximum available modulation being 4096 QAM. The LTU Series offers channel width flexibility (10/20/30/40/50 MHz) and supports features like auto power tuning for optimal performance.

The LTU Series devices are designed to provide high performance, with features such as proprietary RF filtering, flexible GPS synchronisation, and high processing capacity. They also integrate with the UISP controller, which offers advanced functionalities like billing, radio analysis, and centralised management for PtMP networks.

The LTU Series devices are built with durable and weatherproof enclosures, allowing them to operate in various climatic conditions. They support long-range connections, with communication ranges reaching up to 30 kilometers.

The LTU Series holds promising prospects for future development, with the potential for even denser frequency amplitude modulation (up to QAM 4096) and data rates exceeding 1 Gbps.

The core component of the LTU platform is the LTU-Rocket, a 5 GHz Access Point designed for PtMP environments. It incorporates Ubiquiti’s proprietary LTU technology and features high-performance capabilities such as 2+ Mpps (Mega packets per second) processing, proprietary RF filtering, and flexible GPS synchronization.

The LTU-Rocket offers superior performance by allowing independent TX (transmit) and RX (receive) channel frequency configurations within the 5 GHz radio band, enabling avoidance of local interference. It also includes a custom co-processor for potential future performance and feature upgrades.

Compared to its predecessor, airMAX AC, the LTU platform represents a significant architectural shift. It features a new architecture, and a custom CPU, and is not based on the 802.11 standard. Instead, the LTU platform shares similarities with Ubiquiti’s airFiber technology, which is known for its long-range capabilities and robust performance.

Overall, the LTU platform by Ubiquiti provides ISPs with an advanced solution for deploying high-performance PtMP links in the 5 GHz frequency band. Its spectral efficiency, noise resiliency, and flexible configuration options make it well-suited for reliable and efficient broadband connectivity solutions.
