Upgraded Dahua DSS Professional V8.7 – Dahua has released DSS Professional V8.7, an update to its centralised security management platform.
This new version introduces interface changes, expanded AI search functions, additional user-permission controls and broader device integration. The release is designed to support operators managing large, mixed security environments that require unified monitoring, access control, analytics and system interaction across multiple device types.
The update includes a redesigned user interface with changes to resource hierarchy, playback control and system navigation. User management now supports granular assignment of roles, organisations, channels and device permissions, including controls over login access for both web and mobile clients. Administrators can assign time-restricted permissions and manage role-specific access to cameras, access control devices and system functions.
Importantly for many applications, DSS Professional V8.7 expands AI-supported search, adding text-to-image and image-to-image searches. Operators can locate people, vehicles and non-motor vehicles using descriptive text, while AcuPick supports direct image comparison for precise identification. The update also supports open intelligent events, allowing IVSS devices to pass event data such as analytics detections into DSS for linking and response. It’s all good operational stuff.
This latest version also introduces additional audio and interactivity functions through Dahua protocol support for IP speakers. Media files can be distributed to speakers directly from the DSS interface.
At the same time, ONVIF event types are expanded to include tripwire intrusion, area intrusion, left-behind item detection, wandering and scene change, improving event coverage across different installation types. A new online API debugging tool supports more than 150 API interfaces, allowing developers and partners to test integrations via a web interface.
DSS Professional V8.7 can register palm vein credentials, assign them to user profiles and manage combined events, while distribution of access permissions has been optimised for faster updates. Additional account-security functions include mandatory password change options and MAC address binding.
The update also introduces Dahua Intelligent Inspection as an optional module, allowing configurable inspection plans, live status tracking, reporting and temperature monitoring for hazard detection.
Playback gains speed control, tagging and clip-locking functions, while business-function access can be controlled to limit operator access to monitoring, events and application modules. Default client settings, such as video-window layout, can be defined per role.
Importantly, the platform maintains compatibility with IP speakers, IVSS units and a range of third-party devices through ONVIF and API integrations, making integration easier.
