WA Seeks Smoke Detection Camera Trial For Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
WA Seeks Smoke Detection Camera Trial – Western Australia’s Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is seeking a contractor to install smoke detection camera systems on communication towers throughout Western Australia’s Southwest and Warren regions.
WA’s Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions manages over 31 million hectares of public land across Western Australia. As part of its broader bushfire preparedness and response strategy, the department is trialling emerging technologies to improve early detection and support incident response across remote and regional landscapes.
In this case, the trial requires supply and installation of smoke detection cameras, associated hardware, and software across multiple remote sites. The goal is to determine the value and performance of such technologies in bushfire-prone areas where early warning is critical to limiting fire spread and impact.
The selected contractor must have the technical expertise and operational capacity to manage deployments in challenging environmental conditions – note that the work forms part of a 1-year operational trial designed to assess the effectiveness of automated smoke detection in supporting future fire management operations.
An online briefing was held on July 23 to give interested parties an overview of the project and answer procedural questions, but you’ll still be able to participate if you did not attend the briefing.
This WA Seeks Smoke Detection Camera Trial tender closes on August 22 – you can learn more here or read more SEN news here.
