40,000 Vape Detector Tender For NSW Schools.

40,000 Vape Detector Tender – NSW Department of Education is planning to install 40,000 vape detectors in public school toilets from July this year.

NSW Department of Education has gone to tender seeking single or multiple suppliers for the vape sensor tender, which closes May 26 at 10am – you can find out more about the vape detector tender here.

According to Department of Education documents published to the government’s eTendering website last week, the vape detection devices would be installed in common spaces such as bathrooms from July this year and would be equipped with Wi-Fi technology that triggered a notification if a student was vaping.

“The department is looking to engage a single supplier or multiple suppliers to provide vape detectors,” NSW Department of Education said. “Detectors are a holistic approach and a first step to help protect young people.”

Requirements for the detectors include that they must not have a camera or microphone but should include multiple sensor-detecting abilities for vape and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol, the substance primarily responsible for the intoxicating effect of marijuana).

According to the tender, 40,000 units must be supplied within the first 12 months of the contract. The department will have some key decisions to make, given the recent release of Halo 3C, which raises the benchmark in a product that was already the gold standard in the vape detection segment.

HALO 3C provides solutions for indoor air quality monitoring, vape detection, THC detection, gunshot detection, emergency key word alerting, audible alerting, light/occupancy alerting, chemical alerting, VOC alerting, tamper alerting as well as temperature, humidity and pressure alerting.

In conjunction with the HALO sensor, the HALO Cloud app allows users to access critical automated reports which allows building owners and administrators to facilitate a healthy indoor environment. It also allows users to receive push notifications from any HALO alerts, initiate 2-way audio communications with security personnel, and can trigger a panic button.

Visitors to SecTech Roadshow – opens in Melbourne at the MCEC next Tuesday May 9 pre-register here – can check out the Halo range from a number of Australian distributors. You can read more about Halo 3C here.
