Seeking Duress Alarms Supply, Activation and Monitoring for PathWest.
Seeking Duress Alarms – PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA has gone to tender for the supply and provision of personal duress devices, including activation, freight and ongoing monitoring services.
PathWest is the only public pathology in Western Australia and the forensic arm of the WA Health system.
As Western Australia’s leading referral pathology laboratory, the lab responds to the needs of medical practitioners throughout the State, providing accurate information to inform 70 per cent of clinical decisions and 100 per cent of cancer diagnoses.
PathWest has a network of 28 laboratories, and 76 collection centres spread across the State from Esperance in the south through to Kununurra in the north, making PathWest’s services accessible to all Western Australians.
The Laboratory in WA provides pathology services to metropolitan and regional public sector hospitals, major tertiary teaching hospitals and private medical and pathology practices, throughout Western Australia. In doing so, it needs to ensure the safety of its staff.
The staff may encounter situations where they become threatened by those community members who are accessing its services. These situations require a mechanism to ensure staff safety and access to immediate assistance should they be at risk of harm or encounter an emergency.
Personal duress devices, with security monitoring, provide a mechanism for immediate assistance, which may include medical, fire or police. PathWest is seeking the provision of personal duress devices, including monitoring, escalation for emergency support, and user training.
