Idemia XTec Win Monster Biometric Contract Worth $US50M.
Idemia XTec Win Monster Biometric Contract – Idemia and XTec have won a monster $US50 million contract to provide cardstock and personalization services for the U.S. federal government’s biometric Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards.
Idemia makes the PIV cards, and XTec is its distributor – these cards include the fingerprint and face biometrics of the bearer and are used to access a wide range of government resources, from physical access to government facilities to medical care offered by Veteran’s Affairs.
“We are honoured to have been selected by the GSA for this significant award, and are delighted to partner with Idemia to deliver innovative solutions that meet the stringent requirements of government agencies,” said Kevin Kozlowski of XTec.
Idemia said it was proud to have provided its personal identity verification (PIV) cards and common access cards to the department for more than 15 years.
“We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with XTec on this opportunity and continue providing security-enhancing technology to the federal government,” said Idemia’s Donnie Scott.
Idemia Public Security is the ID documents and credentials-making division of Idemia, which was created when the company split into 3 divisions recently.
