Siemens Pixim Power

JUST released by Siemens is the CCWC1345 colour camera, aunit that employs Pixim’s clever chipset to maximize dynamic range. While thiscamera has plenty of good features it’s the Pixim-derived dynamic range thatsets it apart from standard colour CCTV cameras. In fact, this camera’sspeciality is the ability to handle seriously challenging backlit environmentsthat would blind ordinary cameras completely. The CCWC1345 uses the latest CMOS image sensor and a32-Bit DPS (Digital Pixel System) Pixim D2500 chipset to provide crisp, aperturecorrected images for surveillance applications requiring detailed images evenunder difficult illumination conditions. The new Pixim powered Siemens unit is able to see through backlit glass in foyer and retail applications and provide clear images of activity going on outside. The importance of this is best appreciated when you consider that typical CCD cameras are blinded by serious backlighting. Not only will they fail to show external scenes, they’ll also show people standing in front of backlit glass in silhouette – it’s impossible to make out facial features. Important Siemens’ CCWC1345 is the first Pixim OrcaChipset enabled camera to take advantage of dual power supply capability. TheCCWC1345-LX can accept both 12 V DC and 24 V AC power supplies, while theCCWC1345-MX can plug directly into a 120 or 240 VAC power main.Enabled by Pixim’s DPS technology, Siemens’ CCWC1345 is a500 TVL high-resolution color camera that provides crisp, aperture correctedimages for surveillance applications requiring detailed images even underextremely difficult illumination conditions. The DPS image sensor convertslight to a digital signal at each pixel, enabling each pixel to haveindependent, optimized exposure times to deliver the highest image quality andcolor accuracy.Pixim’s patented Digital Pixel System technology marks afundamental breakthrough in imaging technology. Building on technologydeveloped at StanfordUniversity in the 1990s,Pixim has created an image capture and processing system that gives highquality pictures with enhanced dynamic range. This improved dynamic rangeraises both image quality in scenes that include both light and dark areas. The core invention of DPS is the inclusion of ananalog-to-digital converter (ADC) within each pixel of the image sensor. ThisADC translates the light signal into a digital value at the immediate point ofcapture, minimizing signal degradation and cross talk in the array – thisallows for improvements in noise reduction. Once the data is captured in adigital format, a variety of digital signal processing techniques are used foroptimal image reproduction.Siemens says its new Pixim-enabled CMOS camera deliversexcellent image quality and colour accuracy in any lighting conditions with nomotion artefacts. Not only does the CCWC1345 overcome challenging lighting suchas glare, extreme lighting, and strong backlight, to catch crucial details,Siemens says, the Pixim chipset has enabled Siemens to produce one camera forboth NTSC and PAL video standards for greater installation flexibility.Important too is a universal twisted pair (UTP) videoout. This is besides the conventional BNC video output. The integrated UTPvideo output enables the transmission of the video signal via simple twistedpair cabling such as telephone cable over a distance of up to 1200m using atwisted pair receiver unit such as TP-RXMO02 or equivalent. It’s ideal forinstallations requiring long distance cabling, such as tunnel surveillance.Features of Siemens CCWC1345 colour camera include:* High Resolution >500 TVL* 0.5 Lux Sensitivity* Ultra Wide Dynamic Range: 120 dB* Automatic color/mono switchover* Easy OSD camera parameter setup* Motion detection* Twisted Pair video Output* Noise Reduction (DNR)* Back-Focus Wizard* RS485 Remote Setup* Dual Video standard PAL/NTSC
