SEN has gathered good first impressions of the 1/1.9-inch, f1.4 3.8-11mm Uniview IPC542E-DU G Starlight full body camera, distributed locally by C.R. Kennedy.
This is a well-made camera with particular strengths in street scenes between 1-10 lux, and strong colour rendition. The camera has solid performance against backlight and delivers its performance at economical bit rates and an economical price.
After dark is this camera's metier – it retained contrast in low light better than it did during the day – pushing our test target out to about 30 metres from the lens. Also of note is the camera's epic performance in monochrome when pushed into night mode at around 1-2 lux. In black and white, the Uniview IPC542E-DU G is an absolute cracker.
Colour rendition is strong – we've elevated WDR +1 in all aspects of our test except indoors – it's the setting this camera prefers, especially with variable lighting.

Lovely, warm colour rendition at 8.30pm in Sydney. Low light betwween 2-10 lux is the great strength of this camera – it's the best low light performer we've seen at this price point.
