Baw Baw Shire Council is seeking CCTV systems to be installed at multiple locations across Baw Baw Shire.
While the tender does not specify, Baw Baw Shire deploys 6 solar CCTV cameras on 6 metre poles designed to reduce illegal dumping at locations across the shire and council has stated they will expand the system to ensure the environment of residents and visitors is protected.
While Council said it never intended to catch dumpers in the act, the team found high mounted cameras did not get one plate, while darkness caused motion blue and cost a second plate – trail cameras have been mooted as a possible option.
“After installing the cameras, illegal dumping in the six hotspots dropped by 16 per cent over a 6-month period,” said Council’s Jessie Ablett. “We’ve learned a lot about the best way to run surveillance and how to connect with the community to reduce illegal dumping.”
This tender closes on March 12 – click here for more information.
