Certis Wins Gold Coast Light Rail Security Contract.

Certis Wins Gold Coast Light Rail – Certis has won a contract to supply physical security technologies for Gold Coast Light Rail’s G-Link system.

G:link, also known as the Gold Coast Light Rail and the Gold Coast Tram, is a light rail system serving the Gold Coast in Queensland. The system forms part of Translink’s South-East Queensland public transport network and consists of a single 20km line of 19 stations, that will expand to 27 stations during phase 3 of the project.

It’s a significant piece of public transport infrastructure for South East Queensland, carrying more than 10 million passengers each year.

Certis has deployed its GPS business operations support system across G-Link, which allows rail security guards for incident reporting across the network, as well as its near-field communication (NFC) tagging capabilities, which allows security officers to report incidents such as damage or graffiti by scanning tags located on critical infrastructure.

Along with these solutions, G-Link will also leverage Certis’ dashboard, which monitors key metrics and presents data visualisation to gives operators more intuitive operational awareness. Certis has been contracted to identify key security risks and assist G:link with reducing its vulnerabilities.

“Our partnership with G:link to elevate the security standards of their light rail transportation network speaks to our commitment in providing safe and secure environments for the community and for our customers,” said Steve Crews, regional general manager of Queensland at Certis Australia.

“We’re excited to be able to bring our integrated security approach to the only light rail system in Queensland.”

GCLR’s G:link service is managed by transport provider Keolis Downer and the company’s general manager for the Gold Coast, George Davis, said he was excited to partner with Certis to deliver the solution for Gold Coast Light Rail.

“We’re impressed at the seamless integration and the level of expertise the team at Certis have been able to provide to date,” Davis said.
