AVA’s 4K Dome is designed to meet the requirements of retail SME applications and we tried firing it up today to see whether a typical SME could get the camera working without hassle – the answer was yes – the process took about 3 minutes and I was viewing live footage on my iPhone and via browser on a workstation.
Not sure we mentioned the hand-feel of this camera last time – it’s a beautiful build . The feature set is equally solid. AVA Dome comes with built-in intelligent AI analytics, optional storage of up to 120 days of retention, and integrates seamlessly with the Ava Aware Cloud video management system. This is a vandal-resistant, discreet, 4K camera that includes an F1.5-F2.8 aperture, a focal length of 3.6-10mm from the motorised zoom, and multi-exposure line-based HDR to deliver the strong image quality in low-light conditions.
The plug-and-play configuration removes the need for usernames and passwords once you’re set up – I just popped the bonnet, scanned the QR code, replied to an email, set my password and hooray. First impressions of camera performance? Low-ish contrast, decent handling of backlight, strong resolution and a wide angle view from the test unit exhibiting modest barrel distortion. The biggest takeaway? Setup is easy peasy – the easiest setup we’ve undertaken in years.
