CAME Releases GARD PT And GARD PX Brushless Boom Barriers For Automated Vehicle Entry Management.

CAME Releases GARD PT And GARD PX Brushless Boom Barriers – CAME has released the GARD PT and GARD PX brushless boom barriers, 2 models designed for parking facilities and access control points requiring reliable automated vehicle entry management.

The barriers are distributed locally by CAME BPT Victoria headed by Rob Rosa, which holds distribution rights to the entire product range of Don Tummillo’s long established SFERE Group – that means you’ll be getting plenty of local support.

Both barriers share a common platform built around brushless DC motor technology, with the PX model engineered for more intensive duty cycles and higher endurance. Both models support boom lengths providing a clear passage of up to 3.8 metres, but opening speeds differ. The GARD PX can open a 3-metre boom in approximately 1 second and a 4-metre boom in around 2 seconds, while the GARD PT opens a 3-metre boom in about 1.2 seconds and a 4-metre boom in around 4 seconds.

The 36V DC brushless motor delivers smooth operation with reduced noise levels and improved heat dissipation compared with conventional motors. Brushless operation also supports precise torque control at varying speeds and is designed to reduce maintenance requirements over the life of the barrier. These barriers are rated IP54 and have an operating temperature range of -20C to 55C.

In terms of model variations, the GARD PX model is designed for high traffic environments and has a mean cycle between failures (MCBF) rating of up to 5,000,000 movements. Meanwhile, the GARD PT version is rated for up to 2,000,000 movements and is intended for standard duty applications where traffic volumes are lower, but reliability remains important.

Both models use the ZLB30 control board which provides command inputs and 3 safety inputs configurable as normally closed or resistive inputs. The board includes a USB port for firmware updates and configuration upload, as well as an Ethernet adapter option allowing the barrier to integrate with parking management and access control systems.

The barriers incorporate a boom protection system designed to reduce mechanical stress during opening and closing, along with an optional breakaway safety mechanism that uses magnetic contacts and nylon breaking screws to allow the boom to release in the event of an impact. The boom assembly includes integrated red and green LED indicators on the crown and boom arm which function as traffic lights during operation.

Installation flexibility is supported through a range of accessories including an articulated boom lever designed for installations where overhead clearance is restricted. The barriers are housed in galvanised steel cabinets with a rough finish intended to withstand outdoor environments.

The GARD PX includes a graphical display with full text menus in 7 languages to assist with installation and configuration, while the GARD PT uses a simpler 7-segment display for standard system setup.

Both models support integration with CAME Connect, the company’s cloud-based management platform that allows installers and operators to remotely monitor, configure and diagnose connected automation systems. Through the platform, users can view device status, manage connected systems and access operational logs across multiple sites.
