Axis Expands Access Control Portfolio With New IP And OSDP Readers.

Axis Expands Access Control Portfolio – Axis Communications has released a new range of access control readers, including the AXIS A4610 and A4611 network readers and 3 OSDP models, extending its move towards fully IP-based door control architectures.

The release includes AXIS A4030-E, AXIS A4130-E and AXIS A4131-E OSDP readers, alongside the A4610 and A4611 network readers. All the readers are designed to integrate with Axis door controllers and with AXIS Camera Station Secure Entry for centralised management.

The A4610 and A4611 form part of the AXIS A46 network reader series and are designed as integrated devices that connect directly to the network removing the need to wire readers back to a central controller, with control of locks and sensors handled at the edge. Power is delivered via PoE (IEEE 802.3af), simplifying installation and reducing cabling requirements.

Security is a key element across the range, with EAL6+ certified secure elements and support for encrypted communication using transparent mode to deliver end-to-end protection of access control data. The readers support a wide range of 13.56 MHz RFID credentials, including MIFARE Classic, MIFARE Plus and MIFARE DESFire EV1, EV2 and EV3, with keypad-equipped models enabling 2-factor authentication.

Comparatively, the A4610 provides card-based authentication, while the A4611 adds an integrated keypad for PIN and card operation, supporting higher security applications. Both units include built-in networking and I/O capability, with 2 digital inputs, relay output and an active output for door hardware integration.

Designed for internal or external deployment, these readers feature IP55-rated housings with scratch-resistant glass fronts and are specified for operation between -40C and 65C. A built-in tamper switch provides protection against removal, supporting security in exposed locations.
