Axis Communications is promoting 2 educational platforms, in response to current lockdown regulations and the need to maintain services and engagement with security industry professionals.

Axis Communications Academy Training (ACAT) reports its series of courses that commences on April 20, which is a certified program for security professionals who wish to become adept with Axis cameras and other hardware, is booked out thanks to huge interest – there will be another round a week later.

The ACAT series begins with Network Video Fundamentals, which covers the basic information necessary to become a certified Axis reseller. This includes camera optics, image usability, bandwidth and other functions of a camera network. The course is unlocked in stages as participants complete each module and answer questions in a test format. Axis is offering the online training as a special, one-off initiative during the stay home period. You can register for the ACAT training here.

“We have moved our ACAT training online in order to provide an ongoing certification pathway for security professionals during this time, when reduced contact is placing barriers on normal training structures,” said Wai King Wong, country manager, ANZ at Axis Communications.

Axis Communications has also announced the Academy Webinar Programme, responding to an increased demand for general education and technical tutorials during the current state of reduced physical contact. The programme will be free to join, and will essentially provide in-depth basic training on a range of current topics from some of the security industry’s most experienced professionals.

Webinars are targeted at managed service providers, systems integrators and general security administrators and managers wanting to extend their knowledge. The program aims to empower security professionals to design their own security systems and networks, and to educate them on how to install and configure cameras properly in optimal positions and layouts in order to provide the best possible coverage and value for money.

“Essentially, this is an opportunity for us to help educate the Australian security channel on how to design and implement smarter security solutions,” said Wong. “There is so much potential in camera technology these days, and so much knowledge and passion in our wider community, that it makes sense for us to bring some of our knowledge to the industry and interact directly with the people putting networks together and integrating our cameras with high level tech such as facial recognition and video analytics software.”

The webinars will have an interactive component to them, allowing participants to ask specific questions of the presenters in real time. Each webinar tutorial will last between 30 and 60 minutes. The online tutorials will all be recorded and interested parties can log in after the event to listen to the content.

The first 2 webinars (booked out, remember, but additional rounds will be taking place a week later!) on the Axis Communications Academy Webinar Program are:

– Hardening Guide, Cybersecurity considerations (April 7th)
– AXIS Audio Manager, quick setup (April 14th)

The webinar program and more information can be found here.
