In SEN’s opinion, what’s the best hand-held compact hammer drill and driver for security installers?
A: We’d go for Bosch’s 850-watt GSB12V-300 with a brushless motor, 300 inch-pounds of torque, a top speed of 1750rpm, a 4-tip bit-holder, and a weight of 800g, not counting battery.
This 12V drill/driver has a head length of 17cm, making it ideal for tricky spaces. There’s a 2-speed transmission (high power or high speed) and 20+1 clutch settings to ensure precision driving. There’s also an integrated LED to illuminate dark corners.
Like modern Bosch drills, the GSB12V-300 has a 3-jaw keyless chuck for quick bit changes and there’s 26,250 bpm for hammer drilling. But it’s really the decent power level and the excellent ergonomics that get this little Bosch unit the nod.
