BGWT Showcasing Pelco Esprit Compact PTZ Camera, At SecTech Roadshow This May.

BGWT Showcasing Pelco Esprit Compact PTZ At SecTech – Released in 2022, the Pelco Esprit Compact PTZ is a proven industrial-grade camera that is monitoring shipping ports and large industrial facilities around the world.

SEN caught up with Peter Ha, Pelco product manager at BGW Technologies to learn more about the intricacies that make this camera the leader in its class.

“First and foremost, the Esprit Compact is equipped with precise pan, tilt, and zoom functionality offering unmatched flexibility in surveillance operations,” Ha said.

“Using wide dynamic range, the Esprit Compact captures every detail from wide-angle panoramic views to close-up shots with remarkable clarity enabling operators to navigate the surveillance landscape with effortless precision, especially in scenes with dark and light backgrounds.

“Its dynamic range of motion ensures comprehensive coverage without missing a beat. Whether it’s on board a harbour ferry or securing an industrial chemical plant, this camera safeguards that no visual nuance will go unnoticed.”

According to Ha, this camera really is impressive on many levels.

“Firstly its design is robust and weather-resistant, the casing ensures reliable performance in most environments, and when I say ‘most’, I mean pretty much any.” Ha explains. “It has an operating range in temperatures from -40 degrees to 65 degrees C, rain, hail, snow and sunshine, the environment would have to be seriously extreme to stop this camera preforming.

“Secondly, and a real standout, are the camera’s intelligent tracking capabilities. Using advanced algorithms, this camera can automatically track moving objects with great accuracy, keeping them in focus. Smart Analytics, powered by Motorola Solutions proves invaluable in scenarios where real-time monitoring is essential, providing a seamless surveillance experience.”

On the compliance side of things, Ha says the camera is equipped with ONVIF Profile S, G and T and is NDAA-compliant, allowing for open connectivity with Pelco VideoXpert and supports leading video management solutions including Milestone X-Protect. It uses H.264 and H.265 with smart compression technology, meaning that it optimises compression levels for regions in a scene to help maximise bandwidth savings and keep storage costs down.

“Esprit Compact has been tested to MIL-STD-167-1A and 810G, allowing for extreme shock and vibration tolerance,” says Ha. “It is IK10-rated for 20 joule impact resistance and is NEMA TS2 and IP66/67 rated. You can really see that this camera was built to withstand extreme weather, shock, vibration and humidity.

“Seamless integration is a hallmark of the Esprit Compact, allowing it to effortlessly integrate with existing surveillance systems for enhanced functionality. Compatibility with various protocols and platforms makes this camera a versatile asset in any security setup, ensuring a cohesive and streamlined monitoring experience.”
