Blue Mackerel North Seeks Site Security For Gippsland Offshore Windfarm.
Blue Mackerel North Seeks Site Security — Blue Mackerel North has released an open tender seeking suppliers for key elements of its offshore wind farm development, located around 10km off the Gippsland coast between Seaspray and Woodside Beach.
The Blue Mackerel Offshore Wind Project, backed by the JERA Nex bp joint venture, is targeting a 2032 commissioning date and a potential capacity of up to 1GW, enough to power approximately 750,000 homes in Victoria.
Following the award of feasibility licence FL001 in April 2024 for a 163-square-kilometre area within the Gippsland Declared Offshore Wind Zone, Blue Mackerel has entered a 7-year feasibility phase that includes marine surveys, environmental monitoring, planning assessments and stakeholder consultation. So far, the project has completed geotechnical surveys, deployed FLiDAR and wave buoys, and launched an environmental baseline campaign involving aerial marine mammal monitoring and acoustic sensors.
Supply chain opportunities have now been released under the pre-FEED (pre-front end engineering design) phase, with a series of work packages focused on site security, electrical infrastructure, SCADA systems and more. These packages will contribute to design planning, cost estimation, risk management, and delivery strategy.
This Blue Mackerel North seeks site security tender closes on October 20 – you can learn more here or read more SEN news here.
