CEIA OPENGATE High Throughput Weapons Screening For Carried Backpacks, Purses and Bags.
CEIA OPENGATE High Throughput Weapons Screening – CEIA Pacific is showing the CEIA OPENGATE weapons detection system, an open walk-through solution designed for high-throughput screening of people carrying backpacks, purses and bags without requiring bags to be removed.
Manufactured by CEIA in Italy, OPENGATE is designed to detect a range of metal threats, including multi-calibre weapons and IEDs, while allowing people to move through the screening point with their personal items.
Unlike conventional walk-through metal detector gates, OPENGATE comprises 2 freestanding pillars with no mechanical or electrical connection between them. The arch-free design eliminates the crossbar and allows the pillars to be rapidly positioned to create a screening lane.
According to CEIA, the system weighs around 12kg and can be set up in less than 1 minute without adjustment, assembly or connection of mechanical and electrical components between the pillars. This portability allows OPENGATE to be relocated between entrances or screening locations as requirements change.
The system is suitable for indoor and outdoor operation and can be powered by lithium-ion batteries or a standard mains supply. Acoustic and optical indicators at the top of the pillars provide system status and alarm indications, with the top cap designed to maintain alarm visibility in direct sunlight.
Screening lane
What the queue actually has to do
Switch views to compare a divest-based arch lane with the OPENGATE arch-free lane.
Why it matters: the divest and reclaim steps are where a queue stalls, and they need tables, trays and staff on both sides of the gate. Removing the crossbar removes the assembly; removing the divest step removes the bottleneck. The arch lane shown is a general depiction of divest-based screening, not a specific product.
CEIA OPENGATE High Throughput Weapons Screening For Carried Backpacks, Purses and Bags.

FAQ
Questions & Answers
CEIA OPENGATE: what specifiers are asking
Do bags have to be removed at the gate?
No. OPENGATE is designed for high-throughput screening of people carrying backpacks, purses and bags, without requiring bags to be removed at the screening point.
What does OPENGATE detect?
CEIA states the system detects a range of metal threats, including multi-calibre weapons and IEDs, while allowing people to move through the screening point with their personal items.
How does it differ from a conventional walk-through metal detector?
Conventional gates use an arch with a crossbar. OPENGATE comprises two free-standing pillars with no mechanical or electrical connection between them, which removes the crossbar and allows the pillars to be positioned rapidly to create a screening lane.
How long does it take to set up?
CEIA states the system can be set up in less than one minute, without adjustment, assembly or connection of components between the pillars. At around 12kg it can be relocated between entrances as requirements change.
Can it be used outdoors, and how is it powered?
It is suitable for indoor and outdoor operation and runs on lithium-ion batteries or a standard mains supply. Acoustic and optical indicators on top of the pillars show status and alarms, and the top cap is designed to hold alarm visibility in direct sunlight.
How are detection settings changed?
Detection and signalling parameters can be configured remotely using the OPENGATE app on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets.
Who supplies OPENGATE in Australia?
OPENGATE is manufactured by CEIA in Italy and is available locally through distributor CEIA Pacific.
