D-Link Expands CCTV and Edge Surveillance

D-Link Expands CCTV and Edge Surveillance With New Industrial Switch Range.

D-Link Expands CCTV and Edge Surveillance – D-Link ANZ has expanded its industrial networking portfolio with a new range of ruggedised switches designed for deployment in harsh environments, with the PoE-enabled DIS-210G-12UP emerging as the key model for CCTV and edge surveillance applications.

Common across all four models

Fan-lessNo moving parts

The updated range comprises 4 models spanning aggregation, edge and entry-level connectivity, including the flagship DIS-310G-24X Layer 3 switch, the DIS-210G-12 smart-managed switch, the DIS-210G-12UP PoE variant and the compact DIS-100E-05 unmanaged switch.

For surveillance deployments, the DIS-210G-12UP is the most relevant of the group, in SEN’s opinion, combining industrial hardening with high-power PoE capability. The switch offers 8 Gigabit ports, including 6 PoE+ outputs and 2 PoE++ ports delivering up to 60W per port, alongside 4 SFP uplinks for fibre backhaul.

This configuration allows a single switch to support a mix of fixed cameras and higher-draw devices such as PTZ cameras, while eliminating the need for separate power infrastructure at the edge. For integrators, this reduces installation complexity, particularly in outdoor or distributed CCTV environments where power availability is limited.

From a networking perspective, the DIS-210G-12UP supports ERPS ring topology for sub-50ms failover, ensuring continuity of video streams in the event of cable or link failure. Smart management is handled via a web interface, allowing remote monitoring, configuration and fault diagnosis without the need for command-line access.

Environmental performance is consistent across the range, with all models housed in IP40-rated metal enclosures, operating across a temperature range of –40C to 75C and offering 6kV surge protection on all Ethernet ports. Fan-less design removes a common point of failure in industrial deployments, while also supporting silent operation in noise-sensitive environments.

Why it matters at the edge: a single hardened switch powers the camera cluster and hands off over fibre, so no separate PSU, no mains run and no active cooling at the pole or plant room.

For larger surveillance networks, the DIS-310G-24X provides aggregation capability, with 16 Gigabit copper ports, 4 SFP uplinks and 4 x 10G SFP+ ports supporting high-bandwidth backhaul. The inclusion of Layer 3 routing, QoS and segmentation allows separation of CCTV traffic from other network services, which is increasingly relevant in converged IT/OT environments.

The DIS-210G-12 offers a non-PoE alternative for mid-sized deployments where power delivery is not required, retaining fibre uplinks and smart management in a simpler configuration suited to distributed switching.

At the entry level, the DIS-100E-05 provides basic hardened connectivity with 5 Fast Ethernet ports and plug-and-play operation, targeting smaller installations such as remote monitoring nodes, sensor clusters and legacy system extensions.

Integrator questions

What installers usually ask about this range

What is the difference between PoE+ and PoE++ on these switches?

PoE+ (802.3at) delivers up to 30W per port and suits fixed dome and bullet cameras. PoE++ (802.3bt) on the DIS-210G-12UP delivers up to 60W per port, which covers PTZ cameras, heated or wiper housings, and higher-draw edge devices such as illuminators.

Which model should I use for an outdoor CCTV cluster?

The DIS-210G-12UP. It combines industrial hardening with high-power PoE, so a single unit powers a mix of fixed and PTZ cameras and hands the aggregate stream back over fibre — removing the need for separate power infrastructure at the edge.

What does ERPS ring topology do for video?

Ethernet Ring Protection Switching reroutes traffic in under 50 milliseconds when a cable or link fails. In practice, a fibre cut on one side of a ring does not drop the video stream, because the switch fails over faster than a recorder registers a loss of connection.

Can these switches be installed outside a rack?

Yes. All four models are fan-less with IP40-rated metal housings and support DIN-rail or wall mounting, rated from –40°C to +75°C with 6kV surge protection on every Ethernet port — so they can sit in a pole-mounted enclosure, a plant room or a roadside cabinet.

Why does aggregation matter on a larger camera network?

The DIS-310G-24X adds 10G SFP+ uplinks plus Layer 3 routing, QoS and segmentation. That lets you keep CCTV traffic on its own segment away from other building services, which is increasingly a requirement rather than a preference in converged IT/OT environments.
