The Department of Defence is planning a tender for security infrastructure works to be undertaken at Edinburgh in South Australia.
Interested parties should note this is a future tender – it’s not due for release until around September 30, 2020 – so plug it into your tender diary and keep an eye out for both tender and full scope of works. The relevant tender reference is DOD/EIG/SDD/2020/150.
Located 25km north of the Adelaide CBD, Edinburgh Defence Precinct is a key national defence research, manufacturing and sustainment hub housing RAAF Base Edinburgh, the Defence Science and Technology Group and major defence companies including BAE Systems Australia, Lockheed Martin Australia, Airbus Group Australia, Raytheon Australia, CAE Australia and Meggitt Training Systems.
The precinct encompasses major Australian Defence Force capabilities, manufacturing and sustainment capabilities of national importance including the maritime strike capability, Jindalee Operational Radar Network and 1st Brigade Adelaide.
The site is home to the No. 92 Wing and its Lockheed AP-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, No. 87 Squadron Air Force Intelligence, as well as 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment and other units. This year Edinburgh Parks will also be home to Australia’s Northrop-Grumman Triton drones, as part of an ongoing $A256 million upgrade.
The daily working population of RAAF Base Edinburgh is greater than 4500 – it’s a busy site with significant access control, intrusion detection and CCTV requirements, as well as requiring an integrated management system.
