Australia’s Department of Defence Science & Technology is seeking an international security expert.
DST Group’s preferred applicant will be an experienced conflict and security analyst, preferably with experience in the Middle East and/or South Asia, to conduct research into the dynamics of conflict, future scenarios and emerging risks to deployed Australian Defence Force (ADF) forces in the Middle East Region) and ADF engagement activities in the Pacific.
DST is the Australian government’s lead agency responsible for applying science and technology to safeguard Australia and its national interests. As one of Australia’s largest employers of scientists and engineers, DST delivers expert, impartial advice and innovative solutions for defence and national security.
Headed by the chief defence scientist, DST has an annual budget of approximately $A408 million and employs approximately 2300 staff; predominantly scientists, engineers, IT specialists and technicians. DST has a presence in nearly every state and territory in Australia.
National headquarters is in Canberra, and DST has research facilities in Melbourne, Edinburgh (in the northern suburbs of Adelaide), Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney, HMAS Stirling at Rockingham (near Perth), Scottsdale in Tasmania, and Innisfail in northern Queensland.
