Douglas Shire Council Seeks CCTV Upgrades For Port Douglas And Mossman.
Douglas Shire Council Seeks CCTV Upgrades – Douglas Shire Council in Far North Queensland has released a tender seeking a suitably qualified supplier to design, supply, install, configure and commission upgraded public space CCTV across 2 priority locations within the Shire, being Mossman CBD and Port Douglas’s Macrossan Street.
The project covers upgrades to existing infrastructure and the rollout of new surveillance assets. In Mossman, the scope includes the upgrade of 3 existing CCTV poles and the installation of a further 3 new poles. In Port Douglas, 4 new CCTV poles will be installed along Macrossan Street, one of the region’s primary commercial and tourism precincts. Once complete, the project will deliver a total of 10 fully operational CCTV poles.
Each pole is to be configured as a stand-alone, networked surveillance system, with connectivity provided via Council’s secure Telstra VPN environment. Far North Queensland has a rugged climate, with hot summers and cyclones, making external installation of electronic solutions more challenging. Cameras will need to be high quality and remote management cabinets will need ventilation and water proofing.
Douglas Shire Council is responsible for a geographically diverse local government area in Far North Queensland, encompassing the busy tourist towns of Port Douglas and Mossman, as well as surrounding rural communities and areas of significant environmental and tourism value near the Daintree region. Council manages local roads, public spaces, community facilities and economic development across a region where public safety, visitor confidence and amenity are closely linked.
The CCTV upgrade is aligned with broader local government efforts to improve safety in high-activity town centres, support Queensland Police operations and enhance situational awareness in areas with high pedestrian traffic and tourism activity.
This Douglas Shire Council seeks CCTV upgrades tender closes at 5pm Queensland time on 13 March – you can learn more here or read more SEN news here.
