DTI To Supply Communication Systems To Bombardier for BART San Francisco

Perth-based security technology provider DTI Group has announced an order from Bombardier Canada for the supply of hearing-aid loop communication systems for a new build of 775 train cars for Bay Area Rapid Transit Commission (BART) in San Francisco. This is the first order DTI has received from Bombardier Canada.

BART operates a public transportation system serving the San Francisco Bay Area and connects San Francisco with cities in the East Bay and suburbs in northern San Mateo County. BART's rapid transit system operates five routes on 104 miles (167 km) of rail line, with 44 stations in 4 counties. BART is the fifth-busiest heavy rail rapid transit system in the United States.

The proprietary communications system, designed and engineered by DTI, will deliver audio messages to disabled passengers via their hearing aid loop. Hearing aid loops are an assistive listening technology for individuals with reduced ranges of hearing and produces magnetic field which can be picked up by a hearing aid, cochlear implant (CI) processors, and specialized hand-held hearing loop receivers for individuals without telecoil compatible hearing aids.

Deliveries for the systems are expected to commence in the first half of calendar 2017 and will continue through to 2021. The expected value of the Bombardier order is over US$500,000.

DTI provides advanced mobile surveillance systems, solutions and services to a global client list that includes transit agencies, transit operators, freight operators, law enforcement authorities and taxi organisations. The ASX-listed company turned over $A105 million in its last reported financial year.♦
