Hanwha Vision TNP-A6550RW AI PTZ Camera – Hanwha Vision’s TNP-A6550RW is a 2MP AI-enhanced PTZ camera offering advanced optical and analytic performance designed for high-security outdoor applications. The camera delivers full HD resolution at up to 60 frames per second (WDR off), using a 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor, and supports a range of streaming resolutions from 1920 x 1080 down to 320 x 240 pixels. Minimum scene illumination is 0.02 lux in colour and 0.002 lux in black and white, with full IR coverage up to 500 metres – that’s monstrous reach.

Analytics are AI-driven with support for object detection, virtual lines, intrusion detection, loitering, appear/disappear, slip/fall, and motion detection. Objects are classified as persons, vehicles, faces, or licence plates, with attributes including gender, clothing colours, presence of bags, and face masks. Auto-tracking and target lock are supported. Smart privacy masking includes 32 configurable zones with dynamic colour options.

The optical system is where things get seriously interesting in our opinion. The TNP-A6550RW incorporates a 55x motorised zoom lens with a focal range between a very street useful 4.75mm and an awesome 261.4mm. Maximum digital zoom is quoted at 1760x though we tend not rate digital zoom as highly as manufacturers do, especially when there’s only 2MP of resolution on offer.

When it comes to angle of view, the TNP-A6550RW covers 58.6 to 1.23 degrees horizontally and 34.8 to 0.71 degrees vertically. Aperture ranges from F1.6 at the wide end through to F6.5 at the long – this latter is not too slow, considering the big reach. Meanwhile, focusing is supported in auto, manual, one-shot AF, and focus-save modes.

The camera offers 360-degree endless pan and tilts from 50 to -90 degrees depending on mounting orientation. Pan and tilt speeds reach 160 degrees per second in both manual and preset modes. The camera supports up to 300 preset positions, sequences, tours, groups, traces, and schedule-based operations with 0.07-degree accuracy.

The camera is tough – the specification covers IP66, IP68, and NEMA 4X protection, operating temperature range is -50C to 60C, and wind-load endurance extends to 257km/h. The camera weighs 10.4kg, which is compact for the specification, and supports upright, inverted, or canted mounting. The onboard IR LED system uses an 850nm wavelength, and water and ice removal features are included.

Compression options include H.265, H.264 (Main/Baseline/High), and MJPEG, with WiseStream for bandwidth optimisation and up to 10 streaming profiles. The camera is compliant with ONVIF S, G, T, and M, and includes support for secure communication protocols such as HTTPS, SRTP, WSS, and IEEE 802.1X. User and network access is protected through MAC and IP-based controls, auto logout, audit logs, and firmware signing with secure boot.

Secure storage is provided via microSD (up to 1TB) with AES-256 encryption. Edge storage is certified for OnCloud, and the system supports event-triggered uploads and alerting via HTTP/S, MQTT, and FTP/SFTP. Power is supplied via HPoE (IEEE 802.3bt Type 4) with typical consumption of 28.3W, peaking at 71W.

DORI performance supports identification at 357.7m, recognition at 715.5m, observation at 1430.9m, and detection at 3577.4m in telephoto mode. These are some very impressive numbers.
