ONCE a HDcctv product obtains the compliance certificate it is qualified to display the HDcctv logo, indicating interoperability per version 1.0 of the HDcctv standard. Compliant products will be posted on the alliance’s Web site.HDcctv surveillance cameras deliver digital high-definition video over coaxial cable. The HDcctv Alliance has partnered with SMPTE to reference the family of broadcast video interfaces known as HD-SDI to create a derivative standard to enable plug-and-play security systems and equipment that deliver high-resolution, HD surveillance video with no transmission delays, no image artifacts from transmission, with the highest possible signal integrity, according to the consortium. The version 1.1 HDcctv compliance certification standard specifies procedures, tools and criteria for testing the compliance of devices to the physical and electrical requirements of the version 1.0 HDcctv specification. Each individual test is designed to guarantee compliance with one or more of the version 1.0 requirements. When taken together, the tests ensure a candidate product is interoperable with other HDcctv-compliant products, according to the consortium. “With the finalization of the compliance certification process and the establishment of the first of many planned independent HDcctv Compliance Test facilities, there is now a practical way for Alliance members to certify their products and display the HDcctv logo as a guarantee of interoperability,” says HDcctv Alliance Executive Director Todd Rockoff. While ONVIF and PSIA are better known in the IP surveillance industry, the HDcctv Alliance’s upholding of the excellent SMPTE standard makes it a serious contender from the perspective of end users and installers looking for specific performance guarantees.
