Honeywell Technologies Launches As Pure-Play Automation With Focus On AI And Autonomy.
Honeywell Technologies Launches As Pure-Play Automation – Honeywell has launched Honeywell Technologies as a standalone global automation company following the completion of its aerospace separation, positioning the business around industrial automation, AI and autonomous operations.
The company said the transition reflects a broader industry shift from traditional automation towards more autonomous systems, supported by embedded analytics and AI-driven decision-making.
“If you look at our history, for a more than century we have automated the physical world,” said Honeywell’s Suresh Venkatarayalu. “It’s a combination of our installed base, combined with our domain knowledge, and with Forge to drive the outcomes – Forge is our intelligence layer. We are pioneering Physical AI to deliver a true ChatGPT moment for the industrial sector.”
Operationally, Honeywell Technologies is positioning its platforms around the integration of sensing, control and analytics, with systems designed to operate in mission-critical environments where reliability and determinism remain essential.
The restructure formalises a shift in focus towards integrated control systems, sensing, analytics and software layers that support operational efficiency across industrial, infrastructure and building environments.
From a security and building systems perspective, the company’s portfolio continues to centre on core operational domains including fire life safety, security and access control, and energy management, integrated within broader automation platforms.
“Our focus in Building Automation is on the 3 primary operational control domains – fire & life safety, security & access and energy management,” said Honeywell’s Billal Hammoud. “We do all of those while addressing the number 1 problem facing our customers around the world – a shortage of skilled labour.”
Hammoud also pointed to increasing demand for automation platforms that deliver measurable operational outcomes, including yield improvement, efficiency gains and reduced reliance on manual intervention.
Meanwhile, Honeywell Technologies chairman and CEO, Vimal Kapur, said the launch reflects a broader repositioning of the business around long-term growth in automation and AI.
“Our new brand highlights the powerful intersections of our technology and expertise—from controls to intelligence to safety—that will redefine how industries operate, accelerating the shift toward a more autonomous future while unlocking new levels of growth and long-term value,” Kapur said.
According to Kapur, AI will play a central role in that transition.
“The power of AI is going to redefine automation and create a major growth opportunity for the industrial conglomerate’s next chapter,” Kapur said.
